Cellular on Patrol in Oak Meadow, sponsored by our Homeowner's Association, is our first line of defense against "the bad guys." The men and women of Oak Meadow who volunteer their time to this very important cause give just a few hours of their lives each month to help keep all of us safe. COP Report for Nov. 2011
National Night Out (Against Crime) at the Oak Meadow Park
National Night Out (Against Crime) at the Oak Meadow Park on Oct. 4 was a
huge success, with about one hundred men, women, children, and dogs
attending. There was a jazz group with local musicians, two bouncers for the
children to jump on, games, pizza, snow cones, soft drinks and water, and
take home give-aways. Adults ate, visited and listened to music while the
children played.
San Antonio Police Department Prue Road Sub-station Commander, Capt.
Vasquez, and Sgt. Holguin, a SAFFE (San Antonio Fear Free Environment)
officer, stopped by and visited with the residents. Later, the children were
excited to see a San Antonio fire truck with flashing lights pull up. They
had a chance to sit inside or stand on the back.
Thanks to all who helped with the NNO. A good time was had by all attending.
About Oak Meadow COP (Cellular On Patrol)
If
COP members see
or suspect something illegal is happening, we do not confront possible
offenders. We leave the immediate area and then call in a report to the
police dispatcher.
Please continue to stop any COP (Cellular On Patrol) vehicle or call Mike
Glasgow (492-5593) with details of any incident you feel may be of
importance to our community in deterring criminal activity. We ask residents
to let COP know about neighborhood incidents so we can be on the lookout for
suspicious persons or vehicles.
We also urge callers to report these incidents to the non-emergency number
for the SAPD (San Antonio Police Department.) The SAPD will then have a
record and can look for patterns. When the Prue Road SAPD substation
officers notice several incidents occurring here, perhaps they will send an
extra patrol through the area.
If
you would like to find out more about the Oak Meadow Cellular On Patrol
(COP), or if you want to ride with one of the Oak Meadow COP members on a
patrol, or if you want to enroll in training to become a member of the Oak
Meadow COP group, please stop any of the COP members on patrol and let them
know or call Mike Glasgow, 492-5593.
